Good result, Bad weekend incident

by impette @ 31. Oct 2005 - 13:32:09

First of all,
can I say,
How great it is,
When City Win AWAY!

Yes we finally did it! Rochdale 1 Lincoln City 2 brought to you from Spotlands Stadium. 3 points and off we soar to 16th in the table - we're fast catching Orient up ... It's the FA Cup first round at the weekend, so we can live off the league glory of this win for a good fortnight.

The dinner date with Burnley Boy was great. I managed not to spill anything and the food was devine (the company even more so).

The weekend was slightly disturbed by Han getting her drink spiked in a bar in Cambridge on Saturday night. In a nutshell, She sent this guy a text from her phone on the train for a laugh and signed it from me (something along the lines of him not deserving Han or something, I was a bit drunk, so didn't really take in what it was on about and she was acting a bit wierd even though she hadn't drunk much). He kicked off and she denied having sent it and blamed me, saying I must have nicked her phone and done it (!). She appeared to have no recollection of what she had done and when I said, "remember, it's the one you sent from the train" and went mad at me. I ended up having to crash over at Burnley Boy's house (every cloud ;), even so, I was none too impressed with the whole thing at that point!).

She had no recollection of any of this next morning when I went to pick my stuff up and was totally terrified that someone had drugged her. So just be careful with your drinks everyone!

As an aside, I think the Looney Tunes Bloke still thinks I sent the bloody text as he hasn't been particularly forthcoming with an apology. He clearly doesn't know that if I want to say something to someone, I use my mouth! I know Han had been drugged and none of this is her fault, but I am still pretty pissed off about the general situation as I've been made to look a fool and I don't take too kindly to that. I also don't take kindly to some bloke I've said about three words to bad mouthing me over somthing I didn't do. I will certainly be thinking twice about where I go out in future!

Anyway, rant over. Weekend screwed. I should just stay home with a Horlicks. Much safer. :**:

Lincoln City Res 2 Hull City Res 2

by impette @ 27. Oct 2005 - 12:37:36

Hello all! As you can see, we got a draw last night which was a fair result. It was quite a balmy evening and it was nice to sit and stuff my face in the Directors seating whilst watching the second string do their stuff.

The Imps were 1-0 down in the first 5 minutes from a great effort from Hull City which Goalie Rayner would have been hard pushed to even try and stop.

Half way through the half, a beautiful half volley by 19 year old Chris Gordon pulled the Imps level. 1-1 at half time.

Hull regained the advantage just after half time, but good work by substitute Owain Warlow on the left flank led to City's second, with Jeff Hughes hitting the net in the 80th minute.

Got to see Colin Murphy (my childhood hero - the manager who rescued us from the depths of the conference in 1988 when we were unfortunate enough to be the first side to be automatically relegated from the football league in 1987 - coincidently Burnley played a pivitol role in our relegation, maybe he isn't so perfect afterall!). He's assistant manager at Hull City these days.

Also got to see Alex, our manager and managed to be civil to him despite thinking that recently he has gone a bit barmy and that is why we are 18th in the fourth division (old money).

Just wanted to say well done to the Codheads (our local rivals) who did Lincolnshire proud in the Carling Cup last night. Unlucky not to take them to extra time.

I probably won't get a chance to write for a couple of days as I am on a course in Letchworth tomorrow (I need to work out where Letchworth is!) and then I am spending the weekend with Hanna (she has bought me a bat costume to wear out clubbing on the weekend). As she lives close to Burnley Boy, I will also be happening to see him at some point! I might be able to convince him to let me use his PC for a quick blog.

Rochdale away on Saturday. They are doing well, we can't score at home OR win away for love or money. A match made in heaven. City defeat.... God, I've suddenly become a realist. Not good for a Lincoln City fan, hope is all we have!

AND... I have my exciting dinner date with Burnley Boy tonight. I've got the outfit all ready and I can't wait. I haven't seen him for a week and I've missed him loads. It seems a bit silly really, having only known him for a few weeks! Wish me luck bloggers! Have a fantastic weekend y'all!

Random Lunchtime Ramblings of an Idiot

by impette @ 26. Oct 2005 - 13:34:02

I have just been very stupid. I have turned up for a meeting that is actually being held TOMORROW. I thought not many people (ie. no-one but me)had shown up. Confirmed - I am an idiot. I'm rubbish with dates. I've been trying an online planner and put the bloody meeting in the wrong slot. So I'm back to a good old paper diary that some kindly pharmaceuticals rep has donated to me (no, it still won't make me see you....).

Please feel free to comment that I am an imbecile. However, good news is, I am now getting to complete my lunch break which I had cut short to go to said meeting. I am therefore able to eat another toffee muffin (I NEED the calories so I have something to burn off at step on Monday night - the Reebok guru is going to be there and I have a funny feeling that it is going to be very hard work).

I've been blog-hopping and notice a few people have commented on the new Pride and Prejudice film. Although it sounds great, I love the book and I love Keira Knightly, I just can't bring myself to go and watch it because Judy Dench is in it and I can't stand her. This may appear completely random to some of you, but I just don't see what's so great about her, she's just mediocre and the fact she gets so hyped up irritates me all the more. I know I am not alone - my old school pal Sparky has exactly the same opinion.

Incidently, Sparky and I also can't stand local TV news presenter Christine Talbot (apologies if you live outside the Yorkshire TV area - actually, no apology needed as you don't have to see her self-satisfied face beaming smugly into the camera - those of you who do or have lived in the area and can remember the wrongly eponymous "Tonight with Christine Talbot" show may understand where we are coming from). However, we both love Gaynor Barnes, who has exactly the right qualities to read the news on Calendar.

Ooo, I feel better for getting all that out. How random was all that?! And I never mentioned Lincoln City or my quest to find Mr Right once ..... oh, bugger.....

Reserve Football - a true bargain!

by impette @ 26. Oct 2005 - 12:34:46

Tonight I am going to watch the Imps reserves again. We're playing at Sincil Bank tonight against Hull City Reserves (we're top of the table, they are 7th!). Should be a good match. I get to eat pies and hot pork rolls and drink tea. They even let you take your beer into the stands in reserve matches, which would be great if I wasn't off booze thanks to my kidney infection. It's only £2 to get in - a veritable bargain!

I am seeing Burnley Boy tomorrow (his name is soon going to have to be shortened to BB I think!). We are going out to dinner somewhere amazing and so I spent last night picking an outfit. I have chosen to wear my new top that I got in the Karen Millen sale (an absolute bargain and totally delicious) with a simple grey pencil skirt. I thought "Classic and Sophisticated" would be a good theme.

He texted me last night to tell me Burnley had lost, he was playing on his PC and he was tired. I texted back to say I thought it was a good effort aginst Villa, not to fall asleep in front of the computer and that I was finishing my ironing. He seemed rather shocked that I was ironing after 10pm. It had taken me that long to talk myself into doing it at all. I even COOKED proper food for my tea (you know things are bad when even I start cooking).

I'm quite hopeful that he hasn't got bored with me yet. I'm not sure how long that will last though! I desperately like him (I can say that, because he says he has stopped reading my blog ... I hope he's telling the truth, and if you are reading this, you should feel properly ashamed for fibbing!). He's so different from the other men I've dated. I like having a man around who actually seems to care about me and what I want. At the moment he makes me very happy and I hope it stays that way!

Internet Dating - a Postscript

by impette @ 25. Oct 2005 - 14:34:51

As some of you will recall, I had a brief flirtation with internet dating (I never actually managed to have any decent success with it and managed to find my new boyfriend in a bar in Ely a fortnight ago).

Anyway, considering that Burnley Boy and I now appear to be an item (in that he wants to see me "exclusively" - apologies for sounding like an episode of Dawson's Creek there), I ended my Match.com subscription and removed my profile. During the weekend that I met Burnley Boy, a whopping 64 blokes viewed my profile! Once again proving that it is easier to get a man when you already have one - where's the sense in that!

Ex-Fiance was slightly disappointed (probably an understatement) that Cambridge United failed to make it to the first round proper of the FA Cup this year. Lost away at the mighty Weymouth. Ah well.

We haven't had a picture of a Lincoln player meeting yours truely for a while. I'm in a pretty bad mood with most of them at the moment :DD

Alan Marriott

This is our goalkeeper, Alan Marriott. If the hype is to be believed, he is one of, if not THE best 'keepers in League 2.

I used to think this guy was the best thing since sliced bread. Then he was sent off against Torquay, spent three games suspended, played on Saturday and I think it is fair to say, had a pivotal role in our defeat. Burnley Boy described his performance as "Woeful" (in that lovely Lancashire accent) and I was unable to take any offence (which says a lot).

I've given Alan some grief over the past couple of weeks over his behaviour etc, so let's hope a star appearance on "Confessions" will give him a boost! I'm disappointed not to be hero worshipping him currently ... well he does have a rather attractive lopsided grin!

Alan Marriott is Famous for being 6 days older than me (well, he is in my family anyway!):lalala:

Step-tacular!

by impette @ 25. Oct 2005 - 10:44:07

I’m feeling a bit guilty today. My friend Sue and I went to the gym together a week last Sunday and I was jogging on the treadmill while Sue walked beside me. She decided she wanted to give running a go, so I gave her a few pointers and convinced her that she wouldn’t fly off the end of the machine if she let go… anyway, last Sunday she went on her own, pushed the machine up to level 9 and ran for thirty minutes (I’m not sure I told her THAT was a good idea!).

Anyway, she’s now popping anti-inflammatory drugs because she has buggered her knees up. Apparently they don’t advise running on the treadmill for the over forties… ooops. This meant she missed step aerobics this week. However, June was back from the wedding she’s been losing weight for, so now the impetus is to lose the weight she put on whilst she was there!

Luckily for us (lucky according to Carol the Instructor) we have a special guest step instructor next Monday night from Reebok (glad I have Bokkie trainers!). God help me. I will be dead on Tuesday morning. Things are getting slightly better now I have started to understand some of the Jargon “Right Mambo, back step times three, knee lift to the left, over the step and mambo away!!!” But I think I’ll stick with beginners’ classes for the time being. The ridiculous thing is I spent three years at University on the cheerleading squad – step aerobics shouldn’t be that difficult. I’m wondering whether doing it with a pair of poms in my hands will make it any easier?!

In an Alan Partridge "Jurassic Park!" moment, I learnt yesterday that not only had Burnley Boy booked a table in a restaurant; he's booked a table at one of my very favourite restaurants! I think I might not eat between now and Thursday night so that I can stuff my face there. I am the world's messiest eater (which he's already witnessed) and he is still willing to take me out to a fancy restaurant ... he's managing to accumulate a lot of brownie points at the moment!

Big Dipper

by impette @ 24. Oct 2005 - 13:25:35

I've having dinner with Burnley Boy on Thursday night. He's booked a restaurant and everything. It's like being in a proper couple again at long last! It's all going rather swimmingly (scarily enough) and the fact that we live miles apart doesn't seem to be causing too much of an issue at the moment. In fact, it fits in quite well with the rest of my social life, which can only be a good thing!

That's the problem with being single for a long time, you get really used to being on your own and having your own space and not having to tell anyone where you're going and what you're doing and being spontaneous (why is it you never see the good side about being single when you are single?!) and if you get the wrong kind of boyfriend, you lose all that in an instant. LUCKILY Burnley Boy is so laid back he's practically horizontal!

On the spontaneous front he's pretty cool. Over the weekend we spontaneously decided to go to Alton Towers on my next Duvet Day - a Wednesday (I'm a complete roller coaster fanatic). We then learnt they only go and shut the place at the end of this month and we wanted to go two weeks later. Boo Alton Towers!

So (and how cool is THIS?) he suggests we go to Blackpool Pleasure Beach (I'm giving him Brownie points for remembering that after Sincil Bank it is my most favourite place on earth!) - and we can FLY there! Yes FLY! So that we can do it in a day! I mean, what a man! I know, I know, I can't even believe it myself .... You can actually FLY to Blackpool!

As Alan Partridge would say ... "back of the net"...

Lincoln City 1 Wycombe Wanderers 2 - Bugger

by impette @ 23. Oct 2005 - 14:38:50

:no:Well, unfortunately I got it spot on and we are now 18th - just 3 points above the danger zone and despite Alexander's comments that we are "on the right track" - the panic is starting to spread through me. Oh Woah is me!

Quick summary then. We had Mazza in goal and both goals seemed to be his fault (sorry Mazza). We had a referee that didn't appear to understand the rules of association football (nothing new there in League 2 then).

Across the back we had Paul Morgan (WITH the captain's armband - so much for making him pay for his conduct this season, Alex); Colin Cryan, Gaz McAuley and Lovely Lee-Jon Beevers.

Midfield of Keates and Kerr (yes, I KNOW they were injured - so typically Alex played them), joined by Ricky Butcher. Can't really fault the midfield much (I'm not used to us having ANY kind of midfield, so their presence alone is enough for me).

Front line - oh dear. Alex decides to play Nat Brown - a centre back - as centre forward, joined by Derek Asamoah (O.K, he's quick, but always runs into trouble... if he has a choice of beating one man or running an extra 5 yards so he can beat four men, he'll do the latter - infuriating) and Marvin Robinson, who isn't the most nimble of players. Now I now you're going to say "But Marvin Robinson scored your goal" - my dears I could've scored the ruddy goal without getting out of my seat on row H of the upper tier of the Lincolnshire Co-Op stand - and he made a good attempt at missing it even then!!

Frustrated ! :**: It's a poor league this year and we're not even near the top of it. Wycombe were nothing special to watch - I've certainly seen more entertaining opponents this season - and yet they're sat at the top of the table. Anyway... Rochdale away next Saturday. Another high flying team and another churning stomach for an Imps supporter.

Quick mention on the FA CUP FIRST ROUND DRAW: City have drawn MK Dons at home. I have a serious problem with the whole idea of the MK Dons. Other clubs have had to earn their place in the football league. Milton Keynes stole a football club from the people of Wimbledon and are sitting pretty in league 1, whilst the REAL Wimbledon are having to start again way down the pyramid of non-league football. Hmmmp. O.K. rant over.....!

The Imp Crystal Ball vs Wycombe Wanderers

by impette @ 21. Oct 2005 - 14:34:08

Oh dear. We are playing Wycombe tomorrow. They have Nathan Tyson, who is scoring goals like they are going out of fashion. We're at home at least (so our fear of winning away can't get us).

We have a few problems injury-wise. On the basis that we are at home, I would guess that Alex will go for a 4-3-3, but might have some selection difficulties.

Scott Kerr (back strain) and Dean Keates (Hamstring) have both had recent injury problems, but Scotty could well be back in the side for Saturday. Captain-in-Waiting Keatesy looks a lot less likely.

Gary Birch picked up a calf injury in the "nothing match" on the Wirral on Tuesday night putting out our key goal scorer for a three week period.

Paul Mayo is fit again and we may be forced to play him (I really don't know what Watford did to the boy, but it wasn't good). He's been having some terrible luck lately.

Jamie McCombe (Broken Toe) is out for the long term at the moment, but could be back in light training in the next week or so. It was a bit unfortunate for Jamie to be injured when hhe was as he was having a fantastic spell in defence, so I'm looking forward to his return to the team.

So where does that leave us? Mazza in goal, of course. Protected by a back four of Colin Cryan, Lee Beevers (really don't like what he's done to his hair), stand-in captain Gareth McAuley and ex-captain Paul Morgan (he appears to have been demoted from that post following his second red card of the season!). Mayo will probably slot in there if we got for a back 5.

Assuming we go for 3 in the middle Midfield general, Ricky Butcher will probably team up with either Nat Brown or Luke Foster (a versatile addition to the squad - well done Alex!)and Scotty Kerr if he's back.

I'd assume if we have 2 in the middle we'll go for Butch and Kerr.

Now the front line ... always a challenge. Wouldn't be suprised to see the versatile Foster playing there, but more likely Deadly Dirk Asamoah, Marvin Robinson and Maheta Molango, with Ryan and Green on the bench to replace 2 of the three at some point. I'll confess I'm a bit concerned at where the goals are coming from! I'm going to go for a defeat (terrible I know) 2-1. Tyson brace and a goal from Midfield for the Imps. That way, I can't be disappointed!

Workaholic Syndrome

by impette @ 21. Oct 2005 - 11:48:40

Yesterday I woke up for work and screamed in pain. I had an attack of acute pyelonephritis (pop it in google, I can't even bring myself to tell you how painful it is). By 9:30 I had my G.P in my lounge throwing ciprofloxacin down my throat while I tried not to cry in front of him.

This was a rather painful comedown from my fantastic 2 days holiday, where the blog genie continued to work his magic at making Burnley Boy the most perfect man in the world. On Tuesday evening (after I had arrived at his house laden down with bags of clothes etc and he didn't even complain - too much), he cooked me dinner (yes, he can cook! Those of you that know me, know this can only be a good thing), which was wonderful and he even let me play on his scalextric track (I'm such a ladette!).

Being a workaholic, I am back in work today with my bag of tablets and potions to keep me semi-conscious. I have a real problem with having time off work ill. I always feel such a fraud, even when I am more than legitimately ill! Mind you, I am allowed to go home if I get too ill, so I am currently having a battle with the little imps on my shoulders; you know the ones "Go Home!" (that's Burnley Boy's, my Practice Manager's and most other people I work with's opinion) and "Stay and work" (basically just mine!).

I hope everyone else is having a great day, anyway.

Tranmere 2 Lincoln 1

by impette @ 18. Oct 2005 - 22:23:54

Well we didn't want to be in the Mickey Mouse Cup anyway!

Duvet Days

by impette @ 17. Oct 2005 - 16:50:29

I've got two whole days holiday - tomorrow and Wednesday. I suddenly realised the end of the year was upon us and I still had a ridiculous amount of annual leave to get through, so I got out the planner and stuck a pin in random days and used up my hols. These are the first two days of my "random" holiday aka Duvet Days.

Until Friday, I had no plans for these two crazy selfish days. Then I thought about hitting the shops in Lincoln. Then I spoke to my mate Si and thought I could shop in Cambridge instead and catch up with him for lunch. Social butterfly that I am, I can't resist a chance to spread my wings! Then Burnley Boy suggested that he could cook me dinner - Tuesday complete! I'll spend Wednesday sleeping ...

Apparently he's a fantastic cook (that could be a good thing, as I am NOT, then again, it could seriously count against me). There has got to be something wrong with this boy... he seems a bit too perfect for me - likes football, plays football, can cook, drives a fast car, stylish ... sounding scarily like the list I wrote on here about my perfect man a couple of weeks ago... and BANG! He appears out of the blue. Maybe the blog-genie is granting me a wish? He is an inch shorter than me - can I count that against him...? Not really... he's soooo nice. Maybe I'm just a very lucky girl?

O's 1- Imps 1 (oh, and I'm somebody's girlfriend...)

by impette @ 17. Oct 2005 - 09:09:49

I was right to be afraid of Gary Alexander! However, Orient should have been frightened of our Riiiccccckky Butcher, who scored the equaliser and gave me a chance to show me face on here today! I'm pretty pleased with a point away at Orient (I don't think anyone predicted a draw, did they Buze?!).

Next Saturday it's the might of Wycombe visiting the Bank. Before that, Tuesday night sees a visit to Tranmere for the Mickey Mouse, sorry LDV Vans, Trophy. All go for your average City fan!

He called me his girlfriend! And he said he didn't mind me refering to him as my boyfriend. (Apparently we've been on enough dates now to qualify for that - I didn't know there were rules, but I'm glad there are, makes for an easier life).

I've been single for so long, I'd forgotten how nice it is to have someone hold your hand in the street and give you a kiss for no reason at all. Despite the fact he's a Burnley fan, he's managed to put a smile on my face (I tried to avoid mentioning the Leeds result too often - I hope that got me some Brownie points!).

That Friday Feeling ...

by impette @ 14. Oct 2005 - 16:08:23

This afternoon I had my lunch date with Burnley Boy. I really really like him and I think he feels the same way. It's so long since I've even allowed myself to think about having a boyfriend that it seems really strange to suddenly have a potential boyfriend around again. I say potential boyfriend, as I am not sure at what point a boy you are seeing becomes a boyfriend... I wouldn't want to put my foot in it and describe him as such when he thinks it's just a bit of fun, so I am playing it very safe.

I managed to rustle up a simple lunch and he ate it without looking at me suspiciously - so I'm still keeping my head above water!

I'm seeing him again sunday (for longer than an hour and a half this time!).

The big (!) match tomorrow... bad news is that Scotty Kerr is likely to fail a fitness test - injury to his back. Nat Brown is likely to be fit again though, so probably a straight swap in the midfield. It looks like Alan "Mazza" Marriott will be back between the sticks and Gaz McAuley, fresh from international duty with N. Ireland, will step straight back into the defensive line (I would assume at the expense of Bloomer or Foster).

Have a fantastic weekend everyone!

You've got Mail!

by impette @ 13. Oct 2005 - 14:58:28

I’ve become addicted to pressing the “check mail” button on my email. You know, just in case *someone* sends me an email. So I’ve turned it off. This means I won’t know if anyone sends me an urgent work-related email; because I can’t be trusted to leave that damn button alone.

I’ve found myself hoping Burnley win on Saturday. I’ve always been rather scared of Burnley fans, they’ve always seemed rather, how can I put this, fanatical. I appear to have met an exception (unless I haven’t noticed the baseball bat he carries in the boot of his car yet).

I just know that I am always in a rather bad mood when the Imps lose or throw away 2 points (Alright, I’ve been in a few bad moods this season). If he’s anything like me about his football, he’ll be rather grumpy on Sunday if Leeds beat them and I was rather hoping he would be in a good mood, so that he wasn’t put off by my cooking.

Ex-Fiancé was a Cambridge United fan (I hold the club totally responsible for the break-down of that relationship, having no other reason for it). Whenever they lost he was impossible to live with and would lock himself in the bathroom when things were particularly bad (maybe because I rubbed it in). It’s a good job I got on well with my neighbours or I may have been in a very uncomfortable position. After we broke up but he was still living in the house (just to annoy me), he went to the LDV Vans Trophy final at the Millennium Stadium. Cambridge United were hammered by Blackpool and I stayed up all night waiting for him to come home just to smile sweetly, say “shaaaammmme” and totter off up to bed, leaving him to sulk on the sofa.

I have to decide whether to hide the signed picture of Lee Beevers that I have in my Lounge before Burnley Boy arrives. Or the two pictures I have of Lee Beevers and Danny Bacon framed on top of the T.V. Or the collection of signed pictures of 18 year-old me and Jason Barnett I have in a beautiful framed collage in the spare room. I think I’ll leave them. What he sees is what he gets and after all, he has framed team photos in his lounge (and a Sherpa Van Trophy scarf, which apparently is a collector’s item!).

C'mon Engerrrrlaaand!

by impette @ 13. Oct 2005 - 10:42:53

So England finished top of the group, even with the funny little man in charge. Good performance from Jo Cole last night, I thought. And of course Frank Lampard was outstanding as usual... I wonder if he'd consider a move to Lincoln?

I'm much more of a club than country footie fan to be honest. Don't get me wrong, I was delighted with the outcome of last night and everything, but then I turned off the TV and got on with something else. If the Imps had just beaten, say for argument's sake, Leyton Orient (hee-hee!), I would have been high on euphoria until three in the morning at least! Those of you that support a (and I hate this term) "little" club will know what I mean. Success is few and far between and when you get it, you grab onto that feeling for as long as you can. I guess the same could be said for the National Team!

Just a quick mention about Northern Ireland. Gareth McAuley was an unused substitute both on Saturday and last night. Shoulda brought him on, Lawrie, Shoulda brought him on. We really missed Sprite against Cheltenham and he never even got to put his toe on the pitch in Belfast.

I'm seeing Burnley Boy again tomorrow! I've got a wierd mix of nervousness and excitment, which just appears to result in me feeling sick. It's the same feeling I get about 2 hours before kick off and lasts until the match is over... Oh I hope I don't make a fool of myself!

Orient are looking for world domination at the moment. What stands in their way? Little Lincoln City on Saturday at 3pm.... let battle commence!

Culinary Conundrums

by impette @ 12. Oct 2005 - 12:16:58

Burnley Boy called me last night. Which is great, because I was still terrified of calling him. At risk of sounding like a giggly little schoolgirl swooning after a sixth former (although when I was a giggly little 14 year-old he would have been a sixth former), I think he's really lovely.

Despite the fact that my hometown is not on the direct route between Ely and Burnley, he is calling in to take me to lunch on Friday. I have been planning what to wear in my head all morning. Lord help me! On Sunday he is coming round and I think I am going to have to cook something (I don't think I will be able to put off hiding my lack of culinary skills any longer. I have told him I can't cook, but I'm afraid he thinks it's a joke). Maybe I should just make a plate of biscuits and be done with it! Or I could order a takeaway, hide it and then pretend I cooked it...

The Imp Crystal Ball vs Leyton Orient

by impette @ 11. Oct 2005 - 16:00:33

This morning I had the contents of a laser printer toner spill all over me. Ruddy messy stuff. All over my face and hands ... and of course this happened just as I am about to go into a meeting. And yet I didn't care because I've met a nice man who has confirmed that yes, he's visited the blog, but no, he hasn't read any of the men-related drivel. So thank you!

I told him I don't use real names on my blog when talking about blokes, and that I'd use a code name, so he wouldn't know that I was talking about him. I think he might guess, I wasn't too imaginative!

I am still feeling exhausted from my weekend of alcohol fuelled clubbing. I am clearly getting too old for all this now.

Enough on men and onto FOOTBALL! As you are probably aware, Lincoln City play Leyton Orient at Brisbane Road on Saturday - and anything less than a draw will mean I will have to suffer from ridicule from Buze for a week!

ALAN MARRIOTT will be back from suspension, but whether he will walk straight back into the team remains to be seen as SIMON RAYNER has been doing a grand job between the sticks. It will be captain PAUL MORGAN's last of his 4 match suspension.

PAUL MAYO will be out injured for the next couple of weeks. I think we'll be looking at a back four of BEEVERS, CRYAN, FOSTER AND BLOOMER (maybe MCAULEY, I can't remember if he's still on international).

Midfield dream team of KEATES, BUTCHER and KERR (it's gotta come good soon!) and (as usual) a random front three from BIRCH, MOLANGO, ASAMOAH, GREEN, RYAN and M ROBINSON (with the remaining 2 of our 8 - yes 8 - strikers unavailable. BACON - broken leg, COLEMAN - on loan to Aldershot) and your guess is as good as mine who the three will be. The other strikers not picked will keep the bench warm alongside young JEFF HUGHES.

And that is the end of todays session with the Imp Crystal Ball!

Don't you just hate it when you fall asleep on the sofa?

Last night I was shattered. A mixture of a wild weekend in the fens and step aerobics with Carol the Instructor, for whom the word "Beginners" in the class title seems irrelevant.

Unfortunately, I managed to fall asleep in the middle of having a conversation by text with Burnley Boy (because, quite frankly I was too nervous to call him - I've never had this nerves problem before with dating, so I think I might actually like him!), so now he probably thinks I just started to ignore him in the middle of it, when the truth is, I woke up on the sofa, disorientated and unable to remove contact lenses as unable to keep eyes open for longer than a second at a time.

Tonight I have decided to tidy my house. This has absolutley nothing to do with the fact that Burnley Boy might call round one day in the future ... absolutley nothing at all!

Because it is Tuesday and there is a risk that the Lee Beevers picture could fall of the end of the blog at any time, I think I will introduce you to another Imp this morning before work ... who shall we have ....

Franny Green

Aha yes! This is Francis Green - we acquired him from P'Boro (ugh!) but he's been with us ages now. Nice bag, Franny! Squad number 9 for any one who cares (just me then....!).

Gary Alexander takes over Universe

... now that would be one hell of a headline to see on the back page of the Sun eh Orient Fans?!

Burnley Boy has found my blog .... Arrrrggg! Apparently a simple Google search is all it takes and up it comes. I kind of regret telling him about it under the influence (I didn't think it would be THAT easy to find!)as he now knows I'm all "in-to him" and stuff. Mind you, now he's read it, he might not bother again... Luckily it appears that I didn't say anything offensive, so I'm still okay.

I am now going for my weekly ritual humiliation at the gym at my step class. Hi-De-Hi Impette x

Stop the internet dating, I want to get off!!

I'VE MET A MAN!!! A REALLY NICE ONE!!! 88|

You see, whilst I have been internet dating, I have also been walking around, and it was this latter form of personal promotion that paid off.

Anyway, I could listen to his wonderful curly Lancashire vowels for hours. I met him in a bar in Ely. We were surrounded by people talking about rugby stuff (I don’t even pretend to understand what they are going on about) and he appears like a knight in shining armour and saves me by discussing FOOTBALL! Hurrah! (with that accent, he had me at hello – I made him think that it was the fact he’s been to Sincil Bank that really swayed me).

I saw him again yesterday, and he still seemed to like me when he was sober, so that’s a plus point. I think I’m probably wearing a stupid grin on my face today. I am just hoping I don't screw it up!

Anyway, this has made up for the fact that despite having my dream midfield of Keates, Butcher and Kerr in action on Friday night, we still lost ... so Bring on the Orient ... (There's the cue for the jibing from Buze1971 to start!)!

I knew that there'd be something else

This is a quick post to say... the guy who winked at me, the fit one, I winked back and he has emailed me... Ooo!

Anyway, read the post below, it has a nice picture of Lee Beevers on it to look at!

Have a Banana - Munch Munch!

I had to write something else as I couldn’t bear the thought of cold and flu related adverts including Bronchitis being at the top of my blog for the entire weekend! So here is a little anecdote (it's not particularly interesting, but it introduces some un-cold-like words to the front page!)...

I used to work for an accountancy firm. During my time there I was asked to (nay told to) appear in a corporate video. I’d forgotten all about this until I saw a blog when I was browsing the other night asking “does anyone remember corporate videos?” Well believe me, they are still going strong! A friend of mine who still works at said firm told me that they made another short video this year in which one of the partners in the firm dressed up in a gorilla suite (no, I can’t see the relevance either and I worked there over three years). The only thing I remember about the filming of the video I was in was that at the end the producer asked me if I had ever considered reading the weather on TV. I’m not sure why he felt the need to ask that…

I also recall being completely mortified at the first showing of the film and remember the jeers of my peers as my face filled the huge screen. Maybe I would have been happier reading the weather B).

I am about to make the trip over to Sincil Bank and get myself settled in the Centre Spot (Club Bar, not the one on the pitch) with a Legendary Lincoln City Hot Pork Roll (a MUST for visiting fans - everyone is welcome in the Centre Spot! - great plug for it there!). I have to do this as it is a night-match ritual. I have also been banned by the programme seller from wearing my away shirt to home matches as she thinks it is unlucky... it is one thing having your own "lucky clothes" and rituals, but when other people are relying on you to make some luck for them, the pressure is intense!

Did I mentioned that I'm soooo excited that Ricky Butcher is back! *happy little dance around the room*.

For those of you collecting squad pictures of the Imps in a Panini-Style sticker album (can you still get those!!), here is a picture of me meeting my other favourite player, Welsh Under 21 International captain Lee Beevers (or Bee Leevers). I don't think Panini usually allow a fan in the pictures though, so these are unique!

Meeting Lee Beevers

I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend and here's to three points tonight and no coughing and sneezing on my Ely night out tomorrow!
